Jesus
the Way, the Truth, the Life
As human beings, our perspective and understanding is limited.
We plan and make goals, but without guidance we are easily lost.
It is only when we submit to our Creator, Jesus Christ that our true purpose can be realised.
In fact...
Jesus’ life purpose was and is you.
Yes, you! He created and knows every single cell in your body, every single thought, desire, and dream... He knew that you would be reading this right now; and He knows the thoughts and intentions of your heart. He knows what you go through and He understands your pain and difficulties because He has also suffered terribly. Jesus came to Earth to fix our problem of suffering, sin, and death so we can share life in eternity with Him. THAT was His purpose.
If we truly love someone, we respect them and try our best to make them happy. Sin is the complete opposite of this. Sin is antithetical to love. Like when a child disobeys a parent, our disobedience against God not only hurts and separates us from Him, the more we sin, the harder our heart becomes, which hurts everyone including ourself.
Jesus redeems all the guilt and shame of our sins by making reconciliation with God possible, through love. He knows we can't make up for or redeem our sins on our own, so He willingly received the punishment that we deserve on the cross. After dying, He was buried and rose again three days later, defeating death and proving He is true and that He has authority over life and death. Our sin debt is finished and paid in full if we accept His free gift of salvation, paid by the blood He shed for us on the cross.
Okay, but...
you still might not understand how this could be applied to your own life purpose, right?
The most important question you should be asking yourself is:
How can I go to heaven?
1- True Repentance
Talk to God... have an honest conversation with Him, ask Him to help you to acknowledge your sins. Understand God for who He is and see yourself for who you really are. Yes, you are only human, but your thoughts, actions and desires may be taking you further from God.
2- Confession
Confessing Jesus as your Lord and Saviour means acknowledging His sovereignty and following His way of righteousness instead of ungodliness. It's acknowledging that you need His provision and help, and submitting to His authority.
3- Belief
Belief is the action of having faith that Jesus is true, and that He is one God, co-equal with the Father and Holy Spirit. It’s believing that His purpose at the cross is finished, so we lay our lives and souls at His feet, trusting Him to lead us as the author and finisher of our faith.
4- Keep on going... and going
The way to God is a journey. Some days you will be strong in your faith... some days you will not... some days you will doubt... you may stumble and fall... but the point is to rise again, ask the Lord for forgiveness and keep on going. Keep moving towards Him, keep learning, keep praying and keep your eyes fixed on Him... it’s not easy, but it will be completely worth it.
The use of your free will
God will not force you to love Him. God is a gentleman; He will never force you to spend eternity with Him if you refuse to (and eternity is a VERY long, endless time). He will not make you put your soul in the hands of Jesus if you don’t want to. He is perfect love and the true expression of kindness and patience... but, take note of this: He is also justice and fairness. Because He is loving and patient, every single day, He gives you the chance to choose Him or to choose living your life apart from His love, rejecting His message.
You might think that you have it all sorted and you don’t need God. You are proudly skeptical...you might not even believe there is heaven and hell... you live in denial...think religion and faith are human constructions... you may have read a Bible verse out of context...or you're trusting in other people's opinions. You have the free will to think these things, it is your right. But your unbelief doesn’t make it any less true.
therefore,
you can choose to carry on as you are...
or...
give yourself a chance and get to know God.
Still not sure?
