In a world filled with chaos, fear, and existential uncertainty, true peace, hope, and
purpose can seem like an impossible dream. Yet, Jesus Christ continues to transform
people
who
hear and understand His call to repentance and salvation. The question you should be asking yourself
isn't who Jesus is to others,
but who is He to you personally?
When we’re honest with ourselves, our conscience compels us to ask, how can we be made
perfect?
Our hearts long for eternity, yet we also know that death is a fearful reality that we must all face at some
point.
Despite our best efforts and good deeds, we know we can’t save ourselves. We need a
saviour.
Jesus stepped out of the glory of heaven to be born of a virgin named Mary in Bethlehem over 2000 years
ago. He arrived at just the right time in history to solve the
problem of
sin and
death for us once for all.
As God incarnate, Jesus lived a perfectly sinless life, teaching His followers the way of love and
authenticating
Himself with miracles, the forgiveness of people's
sins, and the fulfilment of numerous specific prophecies. He was not
always well-received though, and religious
leaders often felt threatened by His power and authority.
Motivated by pride and jealousy, leaders tempted by power orchestrated Jesus’ cruel torture and crucifixion on
the Roman cross. Nevertheless, Jesus laid down His life willingly for us, for three days after His death
and burial He rose to life, proving to everyone
that He is true, He is God, and He has the keys to death and life.
Jesus' death was the atoning payment for our sins, and His resurrection is proof that it is
finished.
His defeat over death is His free gift to us, granting us redemption, forgiveness and reconciliation to God,
true peace, and eternal life if we
choose to trust in Jesus as
our
Lord, Saviour, and
Redeemer.
Our unrighteous actions
burden
us with guilt and fear, and separate us from our
Creator
who
is holy, righteous, and cannot abide by sin. But because God loves us, He gave His only Son, Jesus, so that
we can be
saved from the
consequences of our sins which is death.
To receive the gift of Jesus' perfect righteousness, bought with Jesus' blood at
the
cross, we must come to Him in faith to accept it. Jesus is the only name under heaven by which we can be
saved. In His own words: "I am the way,
and the
truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Rejecting Jesus means we are by default following sin's broad road to death and eternal
torment. No amount of religious rules or good deeds can solve the root of our problem, which is sin. As
imperfect beings, we can never
achieve true righteousness on our own. The Old Testament laws actually reveal the dire state of the human
condition, which is why we need God’s grace and forgiveness, without which we truly have no hope.
This is why Jesus came to Earth, to seek and save the lost, and perfectly fulfil the
law with love. Greater
love
hath no
man
than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
By renouncing sin and wholeheartedly choosing to follow and
trust in Jesus, we can not only be reconciled to God in peace and love, we learn how to love and
be truly
loved
from our Creator who does not lie, has a plan and purpose for our future, and wants us to live a full,
abundant life through a real, personal relationship with Him.
The call to repentance and salvation is a prompt for you to examine your life and decide the path
you want to
walk— according to the truth, which leads to eternal life, or the way of sin and denial, which leads to
death.
